A downloadable game

DESCRIPTION

You wake up inside a cave with nothing in it, but a door. All you want to do, is to get out. And if you're lucky, maybe even find a friend along the way. Take this adventure and experience this demo of a puzzle game yourself! Who knows what you'll encounter with your decisions.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION

This game was made in the context of a minor during my CMGT studies, using the Godot Engine with gdscript. Only self-created assets were used for this project, which helped to give this game a style of it's own, while also improving my skills in pixel art.

Core mechanics found in many other games, such as a save/load system, a dialogue system, minigames, as well as cutscene sequences were programmed and added to this project. Additionally, a memory system was put in place, which handles memorising the decisions made. This system also differentiates between the memories stored in the save file, and inside the general game context. As such, some actions done will be memorised inside the local save file, and other will be saved across all save files, changing certain gameplay experiences.

As time ran out sadly, one important feature this demo is missing is sound. Though it would certainly improve the experience made within the game by a lot more, it still turned out a nice and fun game.

Overall, it is a good project next to all others, to showcase my versitility when it comes to working within a variety of different engines, programming languages, and softwares when it comes to creating 2D assets.

HINTS

1. Press F5 to quicksave and F7 to quickload

2. The NPCs are detailed in their ways of reaction. Be careful of the decisions you make.

3. The game remembers certain actions done through out different play saves. Though none of them were made to change the gameplay much, some fun interactions can be found instead.

4. If you have a red-green color blindness, just allow yourself to do some mistakes. Who knows, you might get some support afterwards ;)
